ROCO (River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, Houston, TX) is thrilled to announce its 15th season, “Coming of Age”. ROCO’s Unchambered series will feature a concert curated by violinist Scott St. John, concertmaster of ROCO. On November 2, St. John will present an afternoon of selections from string quartets, including pieces by Haydn, Mozart, Dvorak, Hindemith, Webern, Reger, and a premiere by Robert Maggio. Maggio and St. John met in the late 1980’s when Maggio was a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania and St. John was a student at The Curtis Institute of Music. St. John gave the premiere of Maggio’s Solo Viola Suite in 1988, and later premiered Maggio’s Duo Concertante on St. John’s Young Concert Artists Series recital at the 92nd Street Y in 1991. He is also featured on two of Maggio’s CD’s: Seven Mad Gods and Riddles.
